SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES
Nicholas has served as the Geotechnical Engineer of record for 800+ individual custom home and spec home sites in the Central Texas region, in addition to detached garage-guesthouse structures (common in Austin; i.e. ADUs) and addition structures. Mr. Kauffman has also served as the Geotechnical Engineer for many subdivision spec home developments (for spec home builders).
HEALTHCARE FACILITIES:
2010 design, 2011 construction. Scott and White medical clinic in Leander, Texas. Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during the design phase and the construction phase.
MULTI-FAMILY DEVELOPMENTS (Apts., Condos, Duplexes)
Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Engineer of record for the Two Rivers apartments in Georgetown.
HIGH-RISE STRUCTURES:
2011: Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during the design phase of the 17-story "Callaway House" apartments and parking garage in the West Campus area of Austin. This private sector development caters to student housing and is the premier housing option near the Univ. of Texas at Austin campus. The approx. construction cost was $60 million.
2007: Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during the design phase of the 7-story residential high-rise at 2505 Longview Street in Austin. The 2 lower levels are partial basement levels due to sloping topography.
2005: Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during the design phase of the 5-story above grade and 2-story below-grade Texan Tower in the West Campus area of Austin on San Gabriel Street. The project included the use of secant pier wall excavation bracing system to produce an open excavation work area 2-stories deep.
1999: Mr. Kauffman was the Geotechnical Staff Engineer for this mid-rise at 3803 N. Fairfax Drive in Arlington, Virginia.
1999: Nicholas was a young staff level Geotechnical Engineer working on QC testing and inspections for some of the new construction at the Navy Yard in Washington DC where he earned notable experience with static pile load testing of auger-cast-pile construction (grout injected piles).
COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS:
2011: Nicholas was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during design and construction of the driver's license Mega Center in Pflugerville. The project included some soil improvement efforts in the south area of the site due to the presence of expansive clay.
2010: Nicholas was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during design and construction of the Bison Logistics site in Pflugerville.
2013: Capital Geotechnical Services provided the geotechnical engineering services and the construction phase QC testing and inspection services for the PODS warehouse site in San Marcos, Texas.
STREET AND ROADWAY PROJECTS and CITY OR COUNTY PROJECTS:
Nicholas was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during design phase of the City of Hutto urban streetscape project.
SCHOOL DISTRICT PROJECTS:
2012: Nicholas was the Geotechnical Engineer of record during design phase of the AISD PAC off 51st Street in the old Mueller Airport property.
Mr. Kauffman, has served as the Geotechnical Engineer of record for many ground level water storage tanks and elevated water storage tank sites such as this combined site in Hutto, Texas.
